Math

Every student can develop proficiency in math with the right roadmap for success!

From the basics to Pre-Calculus, students need to be able to build a functional foundation in math. We help our students master their skills in math, from learning to use the basic mechanics to comprehension in key concepts and theories.

Math should not be a “scary” or “impossible” subject, but another enjoyable aspect of every day curriculum. We focus on teaching for meaning, not just requiring children to memorize facts. In doing so, we foster greater understanding and retention of math concepts and ensure students will be able to apply this knowledge in and outside of class. We use a variety of instructional methods and study skill sessions that address each child’s unique learning style: basic tutoring, intensive therapy, manipulatives, games,  pencil and paper.  Also, we work with the current Common Core Standards that are in place at all learning levels, Pre-Kindergarten to high school.

Pre-Algebra

Many students find the journey from basic math and arithmetic into higher-level math a little rough. We’re here to make this transition as seamless as possible. Whether your student needs to brush-up or learn new skills, we try to help them consolidate the knowledge they have with the new skills and concepts they are learning.

Our highly individualized program helps your students through the trouble spots so that they can build a foundation to understand more advanced subjects. We will build a program to help your student meet new challenges and build confidence they can carry into future math courses.

Your student will receive tutoring where they need it most, helping them to master such subjects as:

  • Fractions
  • Decimals
  • Area, Perimeter and Volume
  • Graphing
  • Ratio, Proportion and Percent
  • Algebraic Reasoning
  • Integers

  • Probability and Statistics
  • Problem Solving
  • Factoring
  • Radicals
  • Powers
  • Pre-Algebra
  • Beginning Geometry

We will work with you to build your student’s ideal program, offering them aid in a supportive environment. With one-on-one attention and an understanding tutor, most parents see favorable results in only a few lessons.

Allow My Kid’s Tutoring to make education and Math fun for your student.

Algebras I & II

We will help your children acquire the skills the need to solve the toughest of Algebra problems with confidence. MY KID’S focuses on problem solving, skill building, and concept integration to make the courses relevant and interesting, making transitions into to more advanced high school courses easier.

Students learn and apply essential algebraic concepts, including:

  • Equation Simplification
  • Equations and Inequalities
  • Monomials and Polynomials
  • Factoring
  • Algebraic Fractions/Rational Expressions
  • Linear Equations and Graphing

  • Radicals
  • Quadratic Functions and Equations
  • Systems of Equations and Inequalities
  • Exponential Expressions and Functions
  • Trigonometry and Trigonometric Functions
  • Statistics and Probability

In addition to learning how to quickly and efficiently solve math problems on paper, students can also learn to complete exercises with graphing calculators and manipulatives, allowing them to use the latest technology to their advantage. Our students also benefit from a fully customized program and one-on-one attention, allowing our teachers to hone in on the student’s individual learning styles and preferences. Our teachers adapt to the needs of the individual student, whether that is to remediate, review, supplement current school instruction or even assist with regular homework assignments. We work with you and your student to help build the program they need to succeed in Algebras I & II.

Geometry

Geometry is an important foundation for more advanced math courses like trigonometry and calculus, so a solid grasp of this subject is essential for continued success in high school and college mathematics. MY KID’S geometry program will help give your child the academic skills required to solve the toughest geometry problems with confidence.

With exercises that rely on proofs and reasoning, visualization and problem-solving techniques, our geometry lessons follow a personalized program to teach your child about:

  • Angles and Lines
  • Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Circles, and Polygons
  • Three-dimensional Figures
  • Similar Triangles and Transformations

  • Advanced Triangle Applications
  • Inductive and Deductive Reasoning
  • Writing Proofs
  • And Early Trigonometry

Our Geometry program keeps students motivated and engaged by demonstrating how Geometry aids in understanding the world & art, architecture, natural science and engineering. Students are encouraged to discover patterns, come up with ideas about how to solve problems, and make connections to everyday situations.

Our Geometry program also works with students on fundamental math processes that relate to Geometry and assists with regular homework assignments.

Triginometry

Trigonometry builds on an existing command of certain algebraic and geometric skills. On top of reminding students of what these concepts are and how to efficiently use them, the trigonometry students at My Kid’s Tutoring will work with our students on these areas:

  • Trigonometric Functions
  • Graphing Trigonometric Functions
  • Right Triangle Trigonometry and Basic Identities
  • Oblique Triangles

  • Trigonometric Identities
  • Inverse Trigonometric Functions
  • Exponential and Logarithmic Functions

One of My Kid’s Tutoring’s strengths is its ability to augment and enrich the Trigonometry course being taught at school. We customize a personal program for those students who need to catch up, keep up or get ahead of the class; keeping in mind their specific learning styles and needs. Our program also assists with regular class work and homework assignments; helping students to accurately and consistently keep up with their work.

Our tutors work with students in small one-on-one lessons to address each student’s individual needs. We will work with you and your student to develop the program they need to succeed in Trigonometry.

Pre-Calculus

Finding the right pre-calculus and calculus help can be as challenging as the courses themselves. Fortunately, we make getting it easy.

Solid knowledge of Pre-Calculus and Calculus can be achieved for any student, whether to add to their learning experience, to focus them into a specific college or career, help to stay on top of an existing class or wants to enhance their college resume, our pre-calculus and calculus tutoring will help.

Our program introduces and reinforces the important math concepts on which most high school and college calculus courses are based. We also teach students how to apply this thinking to various new and non-routine situations. Some of the concepts your student will be working on may include:

  • Sets, Sequences, Series, Number Systems, Exponents, Factoring
  • Linear and Non-Linear Equations and Inequalities
  • Cartesian Coordinate System
  • Trigonometry
  • Linear, Quadratic, Polynomial and Rational Functions
  • Logarithms and Exponential Functions

  • Graphing and Graphing-Calculator use
  • Probability and Statistics
  • Limits and infinitesimals
  • Differential Equations and Derivatives.
  • Leibniz Notation and the total derivative
  • Integrals, Limits, and the antiderivative

Here at MY KID’S we also work with students on the fundamental math processes that relate to pre-calculus and assist with regular homework assignments.

To help students with pre-calculus, some students may need to review some of the difficult lessons or knowledge gaps they have in algebra, geometry and trigonometry (which this course draws on, helping to integrate these concepts and paving the way toward entry into future math courses).
